On Being Helpful

The most helpful thing we can do for others is love them where they are and model what is possible by living our own lives more fully.

Loving someone right where they are can be an act of faith and courage.

Faith because you must let go of your idea of where someone is supposed to be and consider that they may be exactly where they are supposed to be (Really!)

Courage because you must solve your own riddle: what part of me is like this part of them that I don’t accept?  It takes courage to look into the mirror and recognize yourself in it.  It takes courage to love what you see without needing to ‘fix’ it.
